Anatomy of Human Eye

SG Eye care

Anatomy of Human Eye:-

Eye is the most sensitive part of human body and the most sensitive party of human eye is retina.
Human eye has three coats-
  1. Fibrous coat ( Including - cornea, sclera)
  2. Vascular coat (Including- Iris, ciliary body and choroid)
  3. Nervous coat  (Including- Optic nerve)
Iris, ciliary body and choroid this three layer also called uvea tissue or uvea tract.
Eye has two segment -   a) anterior segment ( it start from cornea to posterior surface crystalline lens)
                                       b) Posterior segment ( it start from vitreous humor to optic nerve)

In anterior segment there are  two chamber- a) Anterior chamber and b) posterior chamber.
human eye has two fluid - vitreous humor and aqueous humor fluid. ciliary body are the site of aqueous humor production.  Aqueous humor composed - water, less protein, ascorbic acid, amino acid, lactic acid etc.

Function of each layers of the eye:-
 1. conjunctiva :-
  •   It helps lubricate the eye by producing mucus and tears
  • it also helps to prevent the growth of micro organism
  • it keep the eye all time moist
2. Sclera:
  • white part of the that is sclera , it protect the eyeball
  • it protect the eye from external injury
  • Also it important to maintain the structure the eye.
3. Cornea:-
  • it is transparent and avascular
  • it protection the from bacteria and virus
  • focusing of light to retina via lens
4. Iris:-
  • color part layer of the eye
  • it helps regulate the amount of light entering in the eye. when bright light it close the pupil and when dim light it open the pupil.
5. ciliary body:-
  • it produced aqueous humor
  • ciliary body also help to produced accommodation that help to focus clearly near object.
6. Choroid:-
  • it supply nutrients to retina.
  • it also maintain the temperature and volume of the eye.
7. Retina:-
  • The image will be form on retina
  • Transfer light energy to electrical energy
8. Optic nerve:-
  • cranial nerve II
  • It transmit visual information from retina to brain.
